Apple Health, Strava, and GPS routes deserve privacy-aware imports

Route imports are not just map lines. They can quietly reveal your home, your work, your school, your travel, your habits, and who you train with.

    Routes are sensitive training data

A GPS route can show where you live, where you start your runs, which roads you avoid, who you train near, and how often you loop the same block. Import reliability and route privacy belong in the same conversation.

CorrCoach uses route context for your workout review and your plan — never for OpenAI or Anthropic model training. Route data stays tied to your workflow, and we make failures visible when an import cannot finish.

Apple Health permissions need clear purpose

Apple HealthKit access is permissioned by data type. A privacy-aware training app tells you why it is asking for your workout, route, heart-rate, or sleep data — and it does not ask for anything that is not tied to real product value.

For CorrCoach, Apple Health and Apple Watch data help us track finished workouts, understand your readiness, and adjust your plan. A rough night can soften your day. A hard session can change your next one. A route can make your review a lot more useful.

Strava imports need route and duplicate discipline

Strava imports can bring in a lot of useful context, but a training app has to handle dedupe, timezones, and route fallbacks carefully. A Sunday run showing up as Saturday is not a small display bug — it changes your training story.

The privacy rule is similar: only import what the product actually needs, keep your routes local to your experience, and make sharing choices explicit before anything shows up in social or coach views.

What you can expect from us with route data

The direction is easy to promise: route imports matter because real workouts matter. A plan that understands hills, effort, what you finished, and what you missed is a lot more useful than a blank calendar.

The reliability work lives in our product tickets, but the public promise is stable: your routes and wearable signals support your training decisions and are not sent to OpenAI or Anthropic for model training.

    Questions athletes ask

Why is GPS route privacy different from workout privacy?

Workout totals describe training load. GPS routes can also reveal places, routines, and relationships — so how routes get stored, shown, shared, and handled on errors needs clearer controls.

Does CorrCoach use Strava or Apple Health data for outside model training?

No. CorrCoach does not send imported Apple Health or Strava fitness data to OpenAI or Anthropic to train their models.
